I know dogs.
Do you have a dog chewing problem? everyone chews...what's the big deal? You must know that there's what I call 'destructive chewing' and 'constructive chewing'. Chewing is meant to render a substance digestible and enjoyable. Dogs and humans do it simply but dogs get into problem some times.
Pet Pillow
Destructive chewing, is the kind of chewing that's zeros in your own possessions and household items, instead of on your dog's own approved toys and chews.
This behavior is an outlet for a bored, nervous, or lonely dogs as a substitute for their emotions and includes whatever that satisfy their needs, along with shoes, sofas, chair legs, and pillows.
From my interviews and watching other dogs that get into trouble, I would offer these suggestions for relief.
1. More exercise. We need to burn off the vigor and give us something to do. Besides, humans should practice this as well and a duplicate purpose will be affected.
2. Dog proof your home. Make the 'untouchables' unavailable. Remove the temptations by putting the items out of sight or put away. These include clothing, eye wear, cell phones, and the old popular of student excuses for whatever chewed up,' my dog ate it'.
3. This is difficult to do with a chair or sofa leg so spray them with an 'untasty' liquid like Liquid Fence. (A petite dab will do ya.)
4. I love snacks, but don't leave them out on the table or even countertops...I have a friend, Andy, who is very acrobatic and can 'leap tall tables in a particular bound." (Incidentally, he is also from Embarrass, Mn.my home town.)
5. Distinguish the inequity between tasty alternatives and your sacred items. Break down and go to the pet store and buy some popular dog toys and rotate them to give a petite collection to the poor dog. Then praise him lavishly when they go for the bait.
Naturally, be insight of your dog. They are no more excellent than humans. Give them time, repetition, and 'chewables'.
